The National Center for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Educational and Training Institutions (NCQAAETI) is one of the main pillars of reforming and developing education in Libya. The center established by the former General People’s Committee Decree No. (164) of 2006, under the name of “Center for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Higher Education Institutions”, its name was amended by the former General People’s Committee Decree No. (129) of 2009, to “Center for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Educational Institutions” and its functions expanded to include schools, universities and higher technical institutes. In 2010, its name was amended to the current name “National Center for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Educational and Training Institutions” in accordance with the Education Law No. (18) of 2010, the Center currently exercises its competencies in accordance with its organizational structure approved by the decision of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research No. (52) of 2015.
